Hi, I’m Mikaela

And this website is as close to the inside of my brain as modern science can get you.

I’m a New York-based multi-hyphenate artist with a particular fascination for abstract painting, clothing design and creative direction.

I’ve always felt called to create — from the early days of violin lessons (and sewing lessons, and dance lessons…my parents loved a hobby), to my career leading operations for creative teams while designing sustainable clothing for my business, Hansel, no matter the medium, I know my purpose lies in finding artistic ways to tell interesting stories. I’ve spent some time reflecting on my career favorite projects and have gathered them here for you — it’s a smattering of work I’ve loved, lead, and learned from over the years, including paint works, illustrations and merchandise designs, 360 brand campaigns, luxury fashion partnerships, and more.

    Hansel Clothing is a sustainable clothing brand featuring hand painted and up-cycled clothing. I founded the brand in 2019 from my apartment, and since then, have partnered with the Brooklyn Musuem, developed two capsule collections with Urban Renewal; have stockists in Westfield World Trade Center, and have been featured in WWD, Vice, Man Repeller, Outdoor Voices, Mollie's Makes UK craft magazine, the Conscious Chatter Podcast and pulled for the 2020 reboot of Gossip Girl on HBOMax.

    All imagery is art directed by me, all clothing is designed and produced by me.
